Discernment is not knowing Good from Evil, it is truthfully knowing "Right" from "Almost Right",

For even in the Garden Satan made a statement of what was "Right" into a lie by telling it as "Almost Right"

[Gen 3:4-5 ESV] 4 But the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

When God spoke about dying, it was dying from innocence, good, righteousness...

[Gen 3:3 ESV] 3 but God said, 'You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.'"

Now you can see why we need to know "Right" from "Almost Right"

How ?

When Jesus ascended to his Father's right hand in heaven he left us the "Comforter" , "Consoler" , "Advocate" he is an "intercessor" or in Greek = paráklētos

The Holy Spirit destined to take the place of Christ with the apostles (after his ascension to the Father), to lead them to a deeper knowledge of the gospel truth, and give them divine strength needed to enable them to undergo trials and persecutions on behalf of the divine kingdom.

The Holy Spirit is an intercessor/comforter/consoler/advocate of Christ pleading with God the Father for the pardon of our sins.

But what does this mean for me ?

Jhn 16:8 KJV — "And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:"

To reprove something is "to bring to light" , "expose" , "convict".

Jhn 16:9 KJV — "Of sin, because they believe not on me;"

The Comforter will expose your own personal sin , because compared to Christ we are worse than filthy.

If you believe, you would walk as Christ walked........

Jhn 16:10 KJV — "Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;"

The Comforter will assist your walk in righteousness, because Jesus has ascended to the Father.

Jhn 16:11 KJV — "Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged."

Everyone will be judged according to the Fathers standards , even Satan who has been already judged at the Cross.

So the Holy Spirit, = God's Spirit , given to us by Jesus, when he ascended is important !

So important, that this is where we are led from in truth. = Conviction.

There are some burdens that even Jesus relied on the Comforters delivery & timing.

Jhn 16:12 ESV — "“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now."

Jhn 16:13 ESV — "When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come."

Jhn 16:14 ESV — "He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you."

The Holy Spirit gives us that internal declaration, that we know , that we know , that we know.

1Co 6:20 KJV — "For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."
